~KOHAKU~ Jade Koi ring

1.350,00AU$Precio

Fine jade cameo of a white Koi. The ring is large, about 33 cm in length, set in white 9k gold which can be plated to rose or yellow. Weighs about 11 grams and is presently a ring size 9, resizable.

Jade appears untreated.

The Koi, has deep rooted mythical significance in several Asian cultures, most notable Japanese and chinese.

The story goes, koi swim and leap up river, against the hardest challenges and dangers, in the quest to reach ‘dragons gate’ , the portal through which a koi transforms into a dragon.

Of these, the white koi, - Kohaku- is synonymous with spiritual enlightenment, ascending to become Akuryu, a magical white dragon associated with all the good things. Luck, success, wealth both material and spiritual.

The Kohaku, carved here, swims a red river ; likely a subtle nod towards the chinese mythological Hong He river associated with immortality.

The significance of Jade in eastern cultures is also deep; with the stone intended to protect its wearer and bring abundance.

And so, a white koi, swimming a carnelian hued river, all carved in a high relief one piece jade cameo, must have really been aiming to bring its maker a serious concoction of blessings!
