~ PISTA ~ Rare, Tahitian Pistachio pearls
I am low key obsessed with Tahitian pearls, especially those of a more silvery grey hue. The colour and lustre is beyond parallel.
I found out about pistachio pearls after randomly coming across a necklace for sale by a prominent online antique jewellery retailer, and I instantly loved their pale olive hue.
So you’l see in Tahitian pearls, it’s much easier to find peacock, or purple or ‘oil slick’ shades. But it’s not so easy to find pearls that literally look like fresh or softly roasted pistachio’s!
A company known for its pearl innovations, found a way to use gamma radiation to make this greenish hue pop, so most of the pearls I was looking at, had had this treatment.
It was only when I actually started to just look at lots of fresh pearls with my pearl farmers, the ones that had not yet been graded, was I able to individually choose pearls with a silver / rust / copper / green / olive lustre - natural and untreated …
So here we are, with this strand of large Tahitian saltwater baroque pearls, clasped to a 9k gold Albert . About 45 cm in length all up.
Each pearl hand selected for this strand, and then hand knotted in gradation.
I hope you love them!
